Aga Khan Heart and Cancer Centre
PROJECT VALUE | $50 million PROJECT SIZE | 142,000 square feet
PROJECT SCOPE | This was the first of a series of buildings to be built on the original hospital campus but meant to be ‘stuck’ behind existing buildings. The building comprises of a radiation therapy, radiology, central sterile supply, cath lab, cardiothoracic and intensive care units, maternity departments as well as operating theatres.
UNIQUE FEATURES | Through work sessions, we discovered the volume of pedestrian and vehicular traffic for this building would be more than the entire campus. Therefore, FNDA proposed an innovative solution by relocating the main entrance and introducing an arrival-drop off area complete with a courtyard, waiting areas and extensive landscaping.
