While the building had a significant presence on the City of Edmonton’s skyline, the outdoor façade of the 35-storey hotel had become outdated. Additionally, the bridge-way and arrival areas were uninviting and in a poor state of repair. FNDA gave the hotel a Porte Cochère with artistic lighting to improve hotel guests’ arrival experience. FNDA proposed the use of simple horizontal louvers with led lighting to enhance the visual impact of the building seen from a distance.
